My life according to books I’ve read this year

Here is a task I found on Book Bird Dog blog – "My life according to literature". Looks like fun so I thought I would try it. You?

Using only books you have read this year (2009), cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat a book title.

Describe Yourself:
How do you feel:
Long Lost
Describe where you currently live:
Dark Times in the City
If you could go anywhere, where would you go:
Back to the Coast
Your favorite form of transport:
Shooting Star
Your best friend is:
Dead Lovely
You and your friends are:
A Place of Safety
What’s the weather like:
August Heat
Favourite time of day:
The Twilight Time
If your life was a:
Paper Moon
What is life to you:
A Lonely Place
Your fear:
What is the best advice you have to give:
Hold Tight
Thought for the Day:
The Mind's Eye
How I would like to die:
Go to Helena Handbasket
My soul's present condition:
Close Up.

Full list of books, with links to reviews, can be found here. You may think the above list is a bit bleak, but a glance at the titles of the books I read this year will demonstrate the challenge not to be too depressing (A Darker Domain, The Darkest Room, The Abominable Man, City of Fear, Burial, Suffer the Children, The Lying Tongue, Frozen Tracks, Dead Tomorrow, Half Broken Things, Bloodprint, Trafficked, and so on. Note to self: Must read some books with more upbeat titles.)
How would your list look?

  1. This sounds fun I will try this and promise myself not to use August Heat for weather. I am waiting up for a 26 year old who does not have his key :o( so this will pass the time nicely.

  2. Eeek. I will have a go at this but fear my list might be equally bleak. Note to self: read books with more upbeat titles 🙂

  3. You’ve read The Lying Tongue? Where are your thoughts on that one, Maxine? I think I’ve missed them along the way. Interested to know what you think.

  4. Now completed this too. It was fun and demanding of thought, given what books I have read in 09!

  5. This list made me laugh!
(I have been meaning to do this one myself, only too lazy to look back through blog posts for list of possible titles – but you have inspired me, I will definitely do it in next couple days!)

  6. Thanks, all! CFR, I enjoyed The Lying Tongue tremendously – very well written; an original, fresh take on a classic storyline; and very suspenseful. Highly recommended! My review is in the queue at Euro Crime.

  7. Hilarious.
Inspired by you and Bernadette, I just did this. Dead-easy 😉
The lesson: read darker books & have more fun.

  8. If your life was a:, I don’t remember seeing this question, does that mean I need to add it?
I like the way you’d like to die!
    here’s mine
